Kromme Rijn Corridor
As part of an innovation program of the Dutch Creative Industries Fund Circular Landscapes worked out a landscape strategy for the so-called Kromme Rijn Corridor east of the city of Utrecht. This Corridor could become a green oasis within the highly urbanized region of Utrecht. The strategy calls for a more integrated approach of urbanization and landscape development.
The project was started by a local citizen group. The resulting regional plan was used to generate more public attention for the area and to promote more collaboration between the many public and private parties involved. This paves the way to implement some of the more practical planning proposals, such as nature developement, new recreational facilities and supporting agricultural transitions.
